It's called that because "sex sells", as do fabulous renderings and great animations. A typical animated fly-through is depicted in my earlier blog entry about the Alaskan Way Viaduct proposal in Seattle. Taking it to the next level, San Francisco's Transbay Transit Center video, with animation work done by renderporn wizards Steelblue and Neorama, has outdone itself on the sales job. All the elements of a fantasy experience, like a Las Vegas commercial are here, including gratuitous shots of elements like the Pelli skyscraper. Because the transit center design is also done by Pelli...
What better commercial than that?
